This is the orchestra's first visit to Britain since 1936 and forms part of their 80th Anniversary European Tour. The Austrian composer Gottfried von Einem's ' Ludi Leo poldini ' was commissioned by the City of Vienna for the Anniversary and was given its first performance in Berlin on 12 October.
