All through her life, the Princess Edmond de Polignac (1865-1943) had connections with the feminist movement, and was at one time friendly with Christabel Pankhurst. She was proud of her encouragement of women composers. and in today's programme we hear of her association with Germaine Tailleferre. And a second member of Les Six receives his first Polignac commission: Francis Poulenc, whose links with the Salon were eventually to rival those of Stravinsky.
