Best known as a composer, Sergei Rachmani nov was also a major conductor and one of the greatest pianists of his time.
David Wilde considers his achievements as an interpreter with the help of gramophone records, including the recently reissued recording of Chopin's c sharp minor Scherzo, and the Kreisler/Rachmaninov violin and piano duo playing music by Schubert.
