In 1941 the BBC Variety Department moved from Bristol and London to the small Broadcasting Centre at Bangor, North Wales. In this programme Wyn Calvin recalls the great radio shows of that time and talks to some of the stars who made Bangor their home for two years during the war:

Millions of holidaymakers will be using London's crowded airports this summer. There was a plan to build another airport at Maplin to ease the congestion, but it was abandoned five years ago. Now the search is on again, and as planners comb the south-east looking for a safe and accessible place, Derek Wood examines the need for a third London airport, and looks at current thinking on the timing and siting of this controversial project.
