A new six-part drama series about the adventures of a Lancashire housewife who decides to become a detective.

Hetty Wainthropp's part-time job in the Post Office leads to an investigation of fraud, which uncovers the death of a bag lady.
See today's choices.

Hetty Wainthropp Investigates 9.30pm, BBC 1
At 60, Hetty Wainthropp decides that it's time she did something useful with her life. "Hetty likes things to add up," observes her husband Robert (Derek Benfield) ruefully, as his wife turns her natural flair for snooping into a career as a private investigator, digging up trouble in the small northern town where she resides. Before long she's got a murder on her hands, a faithful sidekick to assist her and a villain on her trail. Patricia Routledge is in energetic form as this modern Miss Marple, relishing the chance to play a character of greater subtlety than Hyacinth Bucket.

The Silent Twin - Without My Shadow
Another chance to see the programme that won the Flaherty Documentary Award at the 1995 Bafta ceremony.
It tells the story of June and Jennifer Gibbons, identical twin sisters locked in an exclusive love-hate relationship that would admit no others and which drove them to arson and an indefinite sentence in Broadmoor Hospital. One of the pair, Jennifer, died suddenly and mysteriously the day they left Broadmoor, leaving June "without her shadow". In this programme she tells their story.
