with Dr Desmond Morris and Sarah Kennedy. Can the border collie hypnotise sheep? If the golden eagle can see its prey two miles away, why can't it spot its worst enemy? Why is the most ferocious dog in the world hiding in a Tibetan temple in the Scottish hills? Desmond and Sarah find the answers as the Roadshow tours Scotland. They meet
Lucy, the retriever who keeps David Steel healthy.
And Taggart, scourge of Glasgow's underworld, demonstrates that it's not just prison canaries that sing sweetly.
Sarah visits the ponies which have inhabited the Highlands since time immemorial and Desmond finds out why baby elephants from Africa have a luckier life among the white heather.

from Craigavon, Northern Ireland.
Craigavon was a vision, in the 1960s, of a new town on a grand scale. The rich farmland of County Armagh was mercilessly ploughed by the bulldozers and earthmovers as roads, hospitals, schools and housing estates were built to cater for the needs of an eventual population of 180,000. Today's reality scarcely matches the dreams. In tonight's programme Ian Gall talks to some of the people whose work and faith attempt to resurrect the dream and, in the parish church of Seagoe, once the old farming parish church of the area - local people sing their songs of praise. Praise to the Lord; My song is love unknown: The King of love: Great is thy faithfulness; Soldiers of the cross, arise; Mother Teresa's message; Be thou my vision; Look. ye saints, the sight is glorious.

Film reporter Linda Wolfe. 'It's not me that's mad, it's him.' A down-and-out, a vicar, famous singer, a midwife, leading journalist
Ludovic Kennedy and a trade union activist have all experienced mental illness and describe its effects.
They're not alone. Every day in Britain 50 people enter a psychiatric hospital for the first time. Every year, one in four people visits their GP with a psychological problem. No family is immune to mental illness, but it's still a subject many people are ashamed to talk about.
This special programme looks at mental illness, its causes, treatment, and possible ways forward now that so many psychiatric hospitals are closing. Dr Jonathan Miller ,
Professor Anthony Clare and Roger Freeman , the government minister responsible for mental health, join the debate.

'I think cancer is just an illness, I think tuberculosis is just an illness, I think AIDS is just an illness. But we know that certain illnesses become the vessels of fantasy and anxiety: they become metaphoric.' The arrival of AIDS has uncovered fears and prejudices which have been associated with plagues and epidemics throughout history. With so much dread surrounding it, how can people find their way to a rational assessment of the disease?
In this richly-textured film, Susan Sontag, the distinguished American writer, joins with Jonathan Miller, Bishop Richard Holloway and others to explore these dark images and to look for a way out of them.
