Edinburgh 1986 ntroduced by Jteve Rider nowis
Desmond Lynam reminds us in his Handbook that sex tests were introduced to the Commonwealth Games in 1982. But the Australian women's triples bowling team weren't too worried. Among them they'd produced ten children. Zimbabwe won the gold. Triples have been abandoned, now it's singles, pairs and fours, for both sexes.
Swimming
Heats of the Men's 200
Individual Medley and 4 x 100 Medley, and the 200 Butterfly and Backstroke for women.
Boxing
Perhaps some action from last night with the semi-finals on later in the day.

XIII Commonwealth Games
Athletics
The second day free of competition, but three hectic ones to come. Tomorrow afternoon it's the 800m final with SEBASTIAN COE wanting to prove another point to critics and fans, by winning over his elusive distance; there's STEVE CRAM a sparring partner at 1500m;
TOM MCKEAN , a Scottish heir; and PETER Elliott who hated Los Angeles - assuming they all made it to the final, or the Games. There's the 5,000m where England could sweep up with OVETT, BUCKNER and HUTCHINGS, and the 200m sprints. The Women's Javelin, WHITBREAD v
SANDERSON in the business of big needle.
Bowls
A definite pattern will be emerging all around the league tables.
Boxing
Down to the semi-finals with HARRY at the Show Ground. They all get medals from here on. Diving
Finals of the Men's
Highboard - CHRIS SNODE has won twice from 10m, and the Women's Springboard with Canada's SYLVIE BERNIER , the Olympic champion, 3m up.
Cycling
Semi-finals of the Team
Pursuit - if they catch you they're in the final tomorrow.
Badminton
All kinds of singles and doubles, and the first of the mixed.
Shooting
Pistols, rapid fire and free, are packed with full bore and air rifles.
Cricket
The NatWest Bank Trophy Quarter-final
It's never easy predicting the outcome of the one-day game so how about a statistic? Play starts normally at 10.30 and in 1963 Worcester had beaten Lancashire by twenty past two! It was the Gillette Cup then. Scheduled finish today is 7.30 pm. Play after tea on BBC1.

Edinburgh 1986 Introduced by Desmond Lynam
It's semi-final time in the Boxing hall. Conteh, Cowdell, and Kalule, McGuigan,
McTaggart and McAlinden - they've all come through the ranks - and one Brian Harper (London to you). Tonight's aspirants all get a medal and HARRY should too - he's been there since last Friday scratching the days out on his commentary table. There'll be the Swimming finals the cricket may have interfered with, Badminton and Bowls, a spot of Shooting and the Team Pursuit in Cycling, and the Wrestlers have taken hold at last. And the track's back tomorrow so a look ahead to that, and to Tessa and Fatima in the spear.
