In today's programme JOHN CRAVEN takes a high-speed train from London to Cornwall to tell the story of the Great Western Railway and the man who planned it - Isambard Kingdom Brunei. His life was packed with triumphs and disasters. The bridges he built were to be the most beautiful, his railway the best in Britain, his ships the largest in the world, yet when he was only 21 he nearly died while working on the first-ever tunnel under the Thames. An energetic, flamboyant little man, known everywhere as the ' Little Giant'.
