Bobby Riggs, 55 years old, was the 1939 Wimbledon champion in the pre-war era of Fred Perry, Donald Budge, Helen Wills-Moody and Alice Marble. Billie-Jean King, champion of Wimbledon and Women's Lib, is 25 years younger than Riggs and aiming to avenge Riggs's win earlier this year over Margaret Court.
