The waters off the north of Japan are rich fishing grounds, but dangerous because of weather conditions, particularly when great ice packs come down from the north. This film tells the story of a trapped fishing boat and the efforts to rescue it.

The Battle of France is over - the Battle of Britain is about to begin. Facing the threat of German invasion, Britain intensifies her preparations for defence. Churchill's appeal to Roosevelt for weapons leads first to the supply of arms and finally to Lend-Lease.
