Mass: Ecce sacerdos magnus
In 1554 Palestrina's first printed volume appeared, a book of masses dedicated to Pope Julius III. The first of these, Ecce sacerdos magnus, in homage to the Pope, was based on the vespers antiphon for the commemoration of a pontiff-confessor.
This is the second of a series of nine programmes of music by Palestrina. The next programme, on February 4, wiU include motets and madrigals.

Talk by Barbara Stewart, Ph.D.
Dr. Stewart was Lecturer in History at Rangoon University for seventeen years, and left the country in 1951. In the creation of the independent Union she sees implicit the first acceptance by the Burmese of the ' pohtical ' way of life. In this talk she considers some of the long-term implications of that acceptance.
