The sequence of events and pattern of development in the ancient Middle and South American civilisations are gradually becoming better understood, an understanding that has been greatly helped by the Carbon-14 method of dating archaeological remains. Dr. Bushnell talks about the two chief pre-Columbian centres of civilisation, Mexico and Peru, and some similarities and differences between them.
