Leicester v. The Barbarians
A commentary on the second half of the annual match by H. B. T. Wakelam from the Welford Road Ground,
Leicester
This match is an annual event of no little importance in the Rugby football world, bringing together, as it does, two sides of first-class players. The Leicester XV is one of the crack teams in the Midlands, and the Barbarians are composed entirely of Internationals and other Rugby players of the first water. The Barbarians make two tours each year, the one against Midland teams, and the other against tne Welsh sides of Penarth, Cardiff, Swansea, and Newport later in the season.

Prelude, Aria, et Finale played by Egerton Tidmarsh (pianoforte)
Cesar Franck 's Prelude, Aria, and Finale is to all intents and purposes a sonata with the customary three movements. It was written more or less as an experiment, to get away from sonata form, which Franck considered was being overdone. He therefore wrote an equivalent work and used the forms of Bach's day. It is undoubtedly one of Franck's best works, being both intellectually and emotionally satisfactory. One feels that he has successfully applied a romantic technique to seventeenth-century forms.

At the end of their last broadcast the Legionnaires were told that they were all to meet at the Legion headquarters at Sousse for an evening's revelry. Tonight listeners will meet that cheerful crowd when they have something really to be cheery about.
For once the Legionnaires are not fading out on their signature tune. The broadcast will conclude with the singing of a Christmas anthem specially written for the show by Max Kester and Max Saunders.
