(Empire Programme)
This is an ingenuous little story in an Irish setting, concerning an Irish singer (Denis O'Neil ) who returns from America just in time to save his girl and her mother from the bailiffs.
Paul Furniss and Horace Keats live in Australia, and have had a number of radio successes out there. The musical arrangements by Robert Chignell will be truly Irish in flavour, the scoring being for strings, woodwind, and harp.

Scarlatti has well been called the founder of modern piano technique, and as a harpsichord virtuoso he secured a great reputation. A large proportion of the short pieces Scarlatti wrote for the harpsichord he called ' sonatas ', but they bear little or no resemblance in form to the sonatas of Haydn and Mozart. At that period ' sonata ' was the vague general term for a piece of music to be played on instruments, while ' cantata ' meant a piece of music to be sung.

The BF.C Variety Orchestra
Conducted by Charles Shadwell
Production by Douglas Moodie
Listeners will hear an American cabaret from an imaginary American roof restaurant. A similar programme was given in July, and the same signature tune will be used.
The story is this : The man brings his girl friend's younger sister to the restaurant (his girl friend, having discovered that she has another engagement, has asked as a special favour that he shall take the sister in her place).
The Four Aces, though English, will do an American type of act, and will include an impression of American police cars which they call 'Calling All Cars '. Eddy Brandt , an authentic American, will sing songs at the piano. Joan Miller will give a dramatic type of monologue as from the dressing-room of one of the show girls of the cabaret. Charles and Gracie Herbert will present a very smart type of American act. Alyce Carter will head the cabaret. She is a sister of the famous band leader, Benny Carter.
