on National Programme Daventry

An American Cabaret with Alyce Carter
Eddy Brandt
Joan Miller
The Four Aces
Charles and Gracie Herbert
The BF.C Variety Orchestra
Conducted by Charles Shadwell
Production by Douglas Moodie
Listeners will hear an American cabaret from an imaginary American roof restaurant. A similar programme was given in July, and the same signature tune will be used.
The story is this : The man brings his girl friend's younger sister to the restaurant (his girl friend, having discovered that she has another engagement, has asked as a special favour that he shall take the sister in her place).
The Four Aces, though English, will do an American type of act, and will include an impression of American police cars which they call 'Calling All Cars '. Eddy Brandt , an authentic American, will sing songs at the piano. Joan Miller will give a dramatic type of monologue as from the dressing-room of one of the show girls of the cabaret. Charles and Gracie Herbert will present a very smart type of American act. Alyce Carter will head the cabaret. She is a sister of the famous band leader, Benny Carter.
