Introduction — Allegro vivace ; 2 Aria ; 3 Scherzo and Intermezzo ; 4 Finale)
Toccata in C, Op. 7
Sir Hubert Parry says that Schumann's F sharp minor Sonata, which was first published under the pseudonym of Florenstan and Eusebius, ' was clearly an attempt to adapt to the sonata form the so-called romantic ideas of which Schumann was so prominent and successful a representative '.
The movements of this sonata are connected by the interchange of the various themes, and the whole work is full of characteristic fancy and invention.
Solomon first appeared at Queen's
Hall, London, at the age of eight. At fifteen he very wisely made a temporary retirement so that' he could devote all his time to studying. In 1921 he made his second debut in London, and from that date his success has been rapid and complete.
