The most interesting feature of the present programme is the first performance of a new 'Welsh Folk-Song Rhapsody' by Idris Lewis. Scored for a small orchestra, the work is designed on popular lines in the form of a non-stop chain of Welsh tunes, but not those that have become hackneyed. Idris Lewis has taken considerable trouble to base his Rhapsody on tunes that may be well known to keen Welsh music-lovers but comparatively unknown to the ordinary British listener. The following tunes are used in his Rhapsody in the following order: 'Dewch i'r Frwydr' (Come to the Battle), 'Suo Gan' (Lullaby), 'Pant Corlan yr Wyn' (Lambs' Fold) for orchestra only, 'Rhywun' (Someone), 'Dacw 'Nghariad i lawr yn y Berllan', 'Cyfri'r Geifr' (Counting the Goats), 'Migildi Magildi', 'Gwcw Fach' (Cuckoo Dear), 'Hobed o Hilion' (Though Memory beckon), 'Machynlleth' for orchestra only, 'Hob y Deri Dando'.
