' Finnish ways with bread '
Moira Newman
In Finland, which is Moira New man's native land, bread is held in high esteem. The Army's ski-ing ' suicide squads ' exist mainly on bread during their long treks through the forest.
A small parcel was left at Broadcasting House the other day for Janet Quigley , who arranges these Women's Talks. It contained a sample of the famous Finnish ' bulla ' bread, which Mrs. Newman-wife of L. Hugh Newman , the broadcasting butterfly man-had baked for her husband's birthday party. Janet Quigley sampled it and voted it ' awfully good '.

7-' String groups '
Reginald Jacques
For this week's talk in the series ' Music-Makers' Half-Hour ', Reginald Jacques will have with him in the studio a small string orchestra to illustrate the various points he raises. His subject, ' String groups ', should be of especial interest to the many enthusiasts who, not content with playing a stringed instrument for themselves alone, have joined with others in forming an orchestra. And the works to be played will provide a pleasant half-hour's listening for those whose love of music takes a less practical form.
