The Housing Association for Officers' Families and the Haig Homes, both of which are under the patronage of H.M. the King, have been working together for many years in the provision of housing assistance for married disabled members of all the fighting Services, including the Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleets, and the widows and dependants of those who have given their lives. Already more than nine hundred families are being housed at low rentals or given help with their rent, but large additional funds are needed to deal with the many new cases of distress arising out of the present war.
