Social drama based on a true story, starring Pierce Brosnan, Aidan Quinn, Julianna Margulies and Alan Bates.
Dublin in the 1950s: abandoned by his wife, unemployed painter and decorator Desmond Doyle struggles to bring up his three children, Evelyn, Maurice and Dermot. But when the authorities hear of his plight, they force the young trio into care, pushing Doyle into a historic legal fight to reunite his family.

The third opera in Richard Wagner 's epic four-part musical drama The Ring of the Nibelung from the Royal Opera House in London. Mime the Nibelung dwarf is plotting to snatch the ring by tricking
Siegfried into slaying the dragon Fafner for him. But first they must somehow reforge the broken shards of the mighty sword Nothung in order to kill the creature. Meanwhile, the god Wotan has taken human form and is now wandering the Earth in the guise of an old man whose intervention will point Siegfried and the warrior maiden Brunnhilde towards their true destiny. Antonio Pappano conducts the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. Presented by Michael Portillo.
