Since the events of 11 September, headlines focusing on Islamic extremism have ignored the positive changes and intense soul searching that are taking place in many Muslim countries. British Muslim writer Ziauddin Sardar travels to five such countries to reveal how heads of government, intellectuals and opinion formers are seeking new interpretations of Islam, offering a more tolerant approach to other faiths and cultures, and striving to disentangle religion from political ideology. Could change mean a future of peaceful co-existence between Muslim and non-Islamic countries?

On 10 May 1940, the Germans overran Holland and Belgium. The Blitzkrieg had begun. As the Nazis turned their attention to France, the British Army - its ranks recently swelled by 18- and 19-year-olds - hardly knew what hit it. For those young men it was a terrifying baptism of fire, for the British Army a crushing defeat that led to the largest evacuation in military history. More than 60 years on, survivors recall their first experiences of mechanised warfare. Director/Producer Peter Gordon The Other Side of Dunkirk is tomorrow at 11.20pm
