Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. On 28 June 1914 Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife toured Sarajevo in an open-topped car. Unbeknown to them seven young assassins were lying in wait, armed with bombs, pistols and cyanide. Dramatisations based on witness testimony trace a minute-by-minute account of the event that plunged Europe into war. Chuck Yeager's attempt to break the sound barrier is chronicled in another edition of the programme at the same time tomorrow

New series 1/6. Ex-Army Lieutenant Colonel Dick Strawbridge pursues a passion for the unusual side of warfare.
Here, he uses once top-secret documents in his attempts to reconstruct some strange but clever machines - including a rocket propelled Catherine wheel that inspired an episode of Dad's Army. That's followed by a look at how animals - including a pigeon carrying a guided missile and an eavesdropping cat - contributed to the war effort.

Cut off from the outside world, they'll be spending three weeks with "the brothers", a trio of American training gurus who run the organisation Respect for Life. If they stay the course, the participants get an interview for a real job and a chance to change their lives.
