What was the background to The Good Life's memorably monstrous social-climber Margo Leadbetter? This fictional biography combines clips from the classic 1970s sitcom with archive footage, an interview with Margo's best friend (played by Rita Tushingham), and cameos from Richard and Judy, Max Clifford, Raj Persaud and Judith Chalmers.

Comedy: Life beyond the Box: Margo 9.00pm BBC2
The Good Life's Margo Leadbetter is possibly the most unashamed snob in TV history. Life beyond the Box gives us a fuller picture of Margo (Penelope Keith, who does not take part here) with a fictional biography using clips from The Good Life, interviews from people in Margo's life, and new footage. The programme charts her life since her 1970s heyday, through politics, entertainment and a quiz-show scandal. (AG)
