As well as inventing Big Brother, the Thought Police and Room 101, George Orwell (the nom de plume of Eric Blair) also witnessed and wrote about the defining events of the 20th century-colonialism, unemployment, fascism and communism. In this biography, Orwell's words are married to archive material and dramatised scenes derived from his essays, journalism, diaries and letters, creating a portrait of an eccentric rebel whose life was shaped by momentous world events.
Orwell is played by Chris Langham, and his wife Eileen by Mary Roscoe.
