The second in a new three-part series revealing how Ancient Egypt rose from near extinction to form its New Kingdom.
Records bring to life the story of one of Ancient Egypt's most controversial figures, the pharaoh Akhenaten - son of Amenhotep, the richest ruler in the world, and father of the legendary Tutankhamen. Viewed by some as a genius, for others he was little more than a madman and heretic whose religious revolution brought the Egyptian Empire to the brink of disaster. (S) (W)

Concluding the series in which architectural historian Dan Cruickshank explores the heritage of Britain's defences.
An insight into how Britain, under the threat of German invasion in the Second World War, reinvented itself as a fortified encampment, and how with the Channel no longer a barrier affording any protection, the country turned its attention to the skies. Cruickshank visits Farnborough to see stages in the development of radar, and recalls how Dover witnessed the installation of two huge guns that came to symbolise the defence of Britain.
