Century Road in the industrial west Midlands town of Oldbury has witnessed a transformation over the last 100 years. Fifty years ago bus crews staged a strike when an Indian conductor was employed, while nearby Smethwick was the scene of Enoch Powell's notorious "rivers of blood" speech. Now the road is peacefully shared by people from a wide range of ethnic groups.
