Live coverage from the Royal Troon golf club, Ayrshire, of the second round in the 126th Open championship. The opening holes alongside the Firth of Clyde offer a gentle starttothe round with only the fifth hole, a par three, potentially awkward. But from then on the course poses a demanding test for the top-quality international field, especially at the famous "Postage Stamp" eighth hole.
Today's round determines which players will qualify forthe final 36 holes.

The BBC Proms season opens at the Royal Albert Hall with a live transmission in simultaneous broadcast with Radio 3 of Beethoven's Missa Solemnis, the first of ten concerts screened on BBC TV this summer. Guest conductor Bernard Haitink returns to the Proms to conduct the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and BBC Singers, with soloists Karita Mattila (soprano), Catherine Wyn-Rogers (mezzo-soprano), Herbert Lippert (tenor) and Anthony Michaels-Moore (baritone).
