The Joffrey Ballet performs a full-length rock-ballet set to the music of the Artist
Formerly Known as Prince. Recorded for this programme at the Suny Performing Arts Center, New York, the show, which includes the songs Purple Rain, Trust and Willing and Able, has been a hit with both seasoned ballet aficionados and pop fans alike at venues throughout the United States.
The show's producer, Gerald Arpino , named the ballet after the billboards on LA's Sunset Strip that he saw as a contemporary American art form, and selected four of America's most exciting young choreographers - Laura Dean, Charles Moulton, Peter Pucci and Margo Sappington - to create their own "billboard" to match the mood of the songs.
