In August 1980, a party of 15 American volunteers arrived at
Repton, Derbyshire, to join an archaeological excavation.
They included businessmen, housewives, students and retired professors, most of whom had never done any archaeology before. All had paid for the privilege of working hard in a muddy trench in a wet English summer. This
Chronicle programme follows their three-week progress as they experience the rain, the Repton mud and the school dormitories.

From the creators of Airplane!, the American comedy series that spawned the Naked Gun hit movies was short-lived: only six episodes were made. Here is another chance to see this now cult-status comic spoof, filled with sight-gags and non-sequiturs and starring Leslie Nielsen as the straight-faced but incompetent Detective Frank Drebin.
At the start of the first episode, probably irrelevantly entitled A Substantial Gift, two men lie dead in the office of Acme Finance Credit Union.
