Where the Buffalo Roam
Once, the high plains of the American West were home to vast herds of antelope and buffalo. Then the farmers moved in. Though driven away by the dust bowls of the 30s, they later returned to develop the bread basket of the world.
Today, as drought and bankruptcy drive the farmers off again, the high plains are sprinkled with ghost towns and abandoned farms and the wildlife is returning to reclaim the land. Producer Brian Leith
