This outstanding drama from 1983 continues the major retrospective of the work of playwright Alan Bennett and his producer Innes Lloyd. It stars Alan Bates, Coral Browne, Charles Gray.
When a mysterious Englishman appears in her dressing-room, Coral Browne assumes he is with the embassy, but, if so, why are his trousers out at the knees? Bennett based An Englishman Abroad on a real incident involving the spy Guy Burgess in 1958; it won Bafta Awards for best single drama, best actress and for best actor.
