The lions of Musiara Marsh in Kenya have to struggle to survive. Once their favoured prey migrate south, food is hard to find. Often the only choice is to tackle large and dangerous quarry. The film follows Kali, her cubs and the other members of the pride through the lean months and up to the return of the zebra and wildebeest.
