Squadron of the Confederate Air Force. Under their commander, Col Jethro E. Culpeper, the 7,000 colonels
- there are no other ranks - keep their aerial armada in the skies over Texas, 'to perpetuate the spirit that kept the world free'.
Every October, the airforce puts on its show of strength at command HQ.
As the Heinkels and Messerschmitts, Spitfires and Mustangs, Liberators and Flying Fortresses take to the skies, the colonels remind the world again of a time when 'America was great'. (R)

As the Government postpones awkward decisions about power stations and nuclear waste, public fears about the safety of a nuclear future have been aggravated by the accident at Chernobyl. The industry feels the media dramatise the negative.
Anti-nuclear groups think things are moving their way. The war of words is fought in advertising campaigns with only opinion polls to point to victory or defeat.

Tonight Peter Taylor asks who the public trusts and what will turn the tide of our opinion for or against a nuclear future - and we have our own poll to test against the opinions of Brass Tacks viewers.
