In 1978 a lone yachtsman sailing in a race from New Zealand to Australia was shipwrecked on Middleton Reef, called by some 'Australia's Bermuda Triangle'. Bill Belcher survived for 28 days in a tiny rubber life-raft.
This is a re-creation of the events surrounding his ordeal and also the story of his wife who fought bureaucracy to try and save him.

Set against the background of Jewish resistance to the Syrians, the oratorio tells of the Israelite struggle for freedom following the death of their leader Mattathias in 161 BC.

Lucky Luciano , continuing a short season of films by Francesco Rosi , deals with the violence and corruption of the late 1940s and is based on the true story of a notorious Mafia boss. In 1936 Luciano was sentenced by a New York court to a minimum of 30 years in jail, yet only eight years later he was on his way home to Naples paroled for services to the US Army. Before long, Lucky was master-minding an international drugs ring - only slightly irritated by a persistent agent from the US Narcotics Bureau. Lucky Luciano
