A series of ten programmes featuring playwright
Peter Terson and reporter Dennis Skillicorn as they travel by gypsy wagon along the old pilgrims' route from Winchester to Canterbury.
In the seventh programme of the series they visit a village fete and Toby the donkey takes part in a 'derby'. Peter and Dennis are given a ride in a more sophisticated horse-drawn carriage and they eventually cross the county border into Kent and finish the day at the village of Chevening.

3: Water, Land and Survival The north east of Brazil has suffered 12 droughts in this century alone. With a population of 35 million, it has the highest levels of unemployment and infant mortality in Brazil.
The programme examines the causes and effects of this underdevelopment and looks at a number of possible solutions. One that the Catholic Church is actively campaigning for, is a comprehensive land reform. Narrator Jim Norton Film editor CHRIS WOOLLEY Producer PETER RIDING

As a young jazz pianist
Dick Hyman kept the best of musical company -
Charlie Parker , Benny Goodman and Lester Young. After years as a studio pianist in New York, which he combined with arranging and composing, he is now an established solo artist. He demonstrates to
Russell Davies and a studio audience the ways in which the great jazz pianists contributed - Scott Joplin , Jelly Roll Morton, James P. Johnson , Earl Hines , Fats Waller , Teddy Wilson , Art Tatum , Erroll Garner , Bud Powell , Bill Evans , McCoy Tyner and Cecil Taylor. Lighting BRIAN CLEMETT

A series of films about the way we live now.
Our Man in Shanghai Trevor Mound, 54, ex-paratrooper, 17 years a diplomat and an old China hand, has just been appointed Her Majesty's 13th Consul-
General in Shanghai. He's to re-open a post in China's largest city, closed since Mao's victory in 1949. This film, a unique insight behind the scenes of diplomatic life, follows Our Man in Shanghai's first days in his new job.
Within 24 hours of Trevor
Mound's arrival a trade delegation, led by Cabinet
Minister Lord Young, is due. Promoting British interests, especially trade, is Trevor's main task. He has to find his way round the complexities of Chinese protocol - and round Shanghai itself, in a deerstalker and on a bicycle. His discoveries include the only performing panda in the world.
