The World Championships from Bormio, Italy The Men's Slalom
The final world champion will be crowned today and for veteran Swede INGEMAR STENMARK it's the climax of a memorable career. The world slalom champion at Garmisch in 1978 and Schladming in 1982 is bidding for gold again but the trend away from specialist disciplines in favour of all-round skiers could foil this unique hat-trick attempt. Plus a look back at the medal-winning runs of the new Alpine champions.

Through Animal Eyes
Is your dog colour blind?
How do cats and owls see so much at night and high-flying kestrels spot tiny mice scuttling in the grass below? Do insects tune in to colours invisible to us? Is a scarlet anorak like a red rag to a bull and can a rattlesnake really see its prey in total darkness? With the help of video techniques and specially-developed cameras, this programme sets out to answer these questions and many more and to visualise what the world looks like through the eyes of a wide range of different animals. The results are often surprising.

Harold Williamson presents the last of six films about people determined to achieve a personal goal.
Amin All wouldn't take no for an answer. A teenage immigrant from Bangladesh, he hadn't a penny to his name but he wanted, one day, to open his own small restaurant. He began as an underpaid waiter-to learn the trade.
When the time came, no bank would look at him-he had no security.
But he stuck to his ambition to do something new for Indian cuisine, and the breaks came. Or was it plain persistence? In just five years he's opened three restaurants and is now working on his fourth.
And none of them is small. Film cameraman JOHN BECK Film editor DAVID LEE
