Although psychoanalysis is usually associated with the work of Sigmund Freud, a number of psychologists have found themselves in disagreement with certain aspects of Freudian theory, and have developed their own variant forms of analytic treatment. In this country the work of Melanle Klein who became convinced of the importance of experiences in the first year of life. has been particularly influential.
Dr Hanna Segal , an analyst who worked closely with Mrs Klein , explains the basis of Klein'ian analysis.

Sir John Betjeman 's imagination let loose on the subject of Sunday in London. Among the scenes he surveys are the parks, demos, the Natural History Museum, Church and, of course, the weather. Across the soaking acres of the grass,
Over wet pavements and by dripping boughs
We pilgrims plod to the last shrine of all,
The best attended and the most revered,
The sacred altar of the Sunday press.
What's in? What's out? What's on? We ought to know
For if we don't we won't be thought informed.
Willingly we make offerings at the shrine.

1922 and 1933 The first of four programmes celebrating the 30th anniversary of the conquest of Mount Everest.
Introduced by the pioneer Antarctic explorer, Duncan Carse
' Mount Everest is great and beautiful. Marvellously built; majestic, terrible.' So wrote one of the first climbers to stand beneath the peak of the highest mountain in the world. These early pioneers were to get within 1,700 feet of the summit and return with a classic film of early mountaineering, but Everest remained inviolate for another 11 years, and success when it came, was limited to the air.
Wings Over Everest (1933) tells the amazing story of that perilous pioneering flight just 50 years ago.
As the aircraft approached Everest, ' the crest came up to meet us ... I wondered whether the tail skid would strike the summit ... but we cleared it by just a hairs breadth ...' Then, for the first time man looked down on the roof of the world.
