The village of Yishi, about half-way between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, was created by Arabic-speaking Jews from the Yemen who came to Israel at the foundation of the state. Because of their isolation the Yemeni Jews have kept many of the most ancient practices of Judaism untouched, which they observe with an exceptionally joyous feeling. This film was shot during Passover, 1976. A family re-created the seder meal for the film crew, because no religious Jewish family would dream of allowing the seder itself to be witnessed by outsiders.

The World's Policeman?
The Falklands crisis has again raised the issue of the role of the United Nations in settling serious international disputes. One critic has dubbed the UN 'the theatre of the absurd but many argue that it remains the best means of defusing conflict in the worlds trouble spots.
Can the UN exercise a positive global influence to prevent war and maintain peace? Or are its activities too limited by its complicated internal politics?
Vincent Hanna visits UN troops patrolling the peace in Cyprus and reports on the politics at work at its New York headquarters.

As part of Wednesday's Q.E.D. documentary, A Guide to Armageddon, two London couples each volunteered to carry out a ten-day 'consumer test' - underground in a nuclear shelter.

Joy and Erik sealed themselves in a £10,000 buried steel bunker, six feet underground. Ken and Liz followed Home Office recommendations and dug their own 36-inch-wide emergency trench in the back garden. They, too, stayed down for ten days.

This programme is a record of how the two couples coped underground during last winter's severe cold spell with only a fixed camera to observe them, completely out of touch with the outside world.
