Six films about living music 5: A New Paintbrush and a Different Palette
Colour has always been important to the musical creator. The deep hues of a string orchestra, or the warm tones of woodwind. But only since the war, with magnetic tape and micro-electronics, have composers used colour alone. Tim Souster is one of Britain's foremost electronic composers. His range has been wide, from working with Stockhausen to creating the score for Hitchhiker's Guide. With a group from England's youth orchestras Souster explores the new sound palette of electronic music.

The seventh of 16 programmes A Question of Breeding
Together with wildlife artist Gordon Beningfield , whose paintings recall a more traditional English countryside, Angela visits the Cotswold Farm Park where Joe Henson has brought together his colourful collection of rare and unusual breeds of farm animals. Once the basic livestock of the countryman, they have now been superseded by mass-produced breeds that satisfy the demands of today's housewife.
Could these old-timers of the farmyard make a comeback, or are they destined to be nostalgic reminders of our rural past?
