Cliff Michelmore covers the world of motoring with MICHAEL FROSTICK and BARRIE GILL In the last programme of the present series the Wheelbase team visit a new oil refinery at Milford Haven to report on petrol prospects for Britain's 15 million motorists in 1974. Toy earth-movers and dumper-trucks often make good gifts for children at Christmas. The programme tonight calls on a British Leyland factory at Grantham which has been manufacturing 60-ton versions of ' the real thing ' for nearly a century.
At the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, Stirling Moss comments on a new exhibition of 500 cc racing cars which set the rear-engine style on the Grand Prix circuits of the world.

In 1941, after sinking many ships in Canadian waters, Nazi U-boat 37 is trapped and sunk in the Gulf of St Lawrence. The only hope for the six surviving members of the crew is escape to the still neutral United States.
