Whatever happened to "Bubbles" or "The Laughing Cavalier"? Why does the art of this century seem obscure or outrageous to so many of us? Is it worth the money? Are they having us on? This film introduces a new series about major figures of the 20th century, painters, sculptors, architects - some of the New Masters.
It tries to show how the 'isms' of modern art are neither abstruse theories nor confidence tricks, but the reactions of men who happened to be artists to the changing world of the 20th century.
