Two years ago the world discovered 'ecology' and in America the 'Environment Movement' was born. Barry Commoner has forecast technological suicide if we hold to our present course. Ehrlich goes further: he prophesies the imminent and almost inevitable death of the world. First the movement was a cult. Then it became a revolution that swept the States. But today there's a growing backlash against it.
We in Britain have lived in the shadow of the American experience, but as public and scientific concern grows, how should we interpret the warnings of the American prophets of doom?
