Gordon Wilkins covers the motoring news of the week with Maxwell Boyd, Michael Frostick, and Judith Jackson.
Tonight the RAC Rally of Great Britain has a half-hour halt at Machynlleth in North Wales, and Wheelbase reports from there with up-to-the-minute results and interviews, and the best of the action from today's speed tests in the Welsh forests.
The RAC is the rally of the year in Britain. Over 400 of the best drivers in the world have been fighting it out for the past four days over 2,300 miles of flat-out motoring through England, Scotland and Wales. The Scandinavians are out to win again, and tonight's live progress report examines their chances before the start of the final run-in to London tomorrow.

In mid-1942, as Rommel stood poised for his final assault on Egypt, British radio monitors in the desert were electrified to intercept a broadcast from Berlin. It implied the Germans possessed a stolen American codebook which gave them access to the Allies' radioed military secrets.

Could the information gained through this codebook be the explanation of the Germans' unstoppable advance? The reason for a naval disaster in the Mediterranean? How Rommel had gained his title - 'The Desert Fox'?
