When the volcano on Tristan exploded in 1961 it drove into exile the tiny community that lived there; their life on the island had remained virtually unchanged for 150 years.
This film tells the story of a pre-Victorian people suddenly forced to a reckoning with twentieth-century England, their reactions to it, and the repercussions after they had returned home.
