An insight into the life of Evelyn Folan.
Evelyn is not much use around the house... with the result that the other children call her 'her ladyship'.
You are much more likely to find Evelyn Folan with her nose in a book than in an oven, and nice as it may be to have a daughter who can lend a hand in the kitchen, it is better to have one who comes top of her class and wins a scholarship to the local convent school.
The action of the film takes place on Evelyn's thirteenth birthday, when she plays hostess to her schoolfriends, and thinks hard about her future.
