On the eve of the announcement of the Caine Writing Prize winner, and as part of the Africa Lives on the BBC season, poet and playwright Gabriel Gbadamosi investigates the role of the book in sub-Saharan Africa. He talks to Cyprian Ekwensi , at 84, one of Africa's oldest living writers, and examines a new generation of young writers who are reaching new readers, both within and outside Africa. Live from the Royal Albert Hall , London, Penny Gore presents a late-night celebration for the 70th birthday of one of the founding fathers of American Minimalism, including some of his signature scores from the early 1970s, and ranging from the intriguing sound of just four hands clapping together, to the massed effects of nine percussionists, voices and organ.
