After the Liberation he reached war-devastated Vienna ahead of his rivals to sign contracts with artists such as Elisabeth Schwarzkopf , whom he later married.

Inspired by the poetry of Emily Dickinson , Julian Anderson 's new composition is a non-religious work with orchestral movements framing a setting of sections of the Latin Mass, together with other texts. Anderson wrote this piece with the singer Angelika Kirchschlager in mind. After the interval, a performance of the music Ravel wrote for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. Presented by Penny Gore .

A visit to the National Gallery in Dublin, where a special exhibition marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of playwright George Bernard Shaw. Shaw became the Gallery's most generous benefactor following his death in 1950. His relationship with Dublin and his political beliefs are explored in this survey of the Shaw legacy.
