5: Final Years
In 1913 Saint-Saens played piano at his last public concert at the Salle Gaveau. In fact he went on giving "last" concerts until the end of his life. His old age was creative and he carried on composing well into his eighties.

Chris Potter Quartet
The first of a season of programmes recorded atthis year's Cheltenham Jazz Festival features American saxophonist Chris Potter in a giggiven earlierthis evening at the Everyman Theatre. Potter, who made a name for himself early on playing with Charlie Parker 's ex-sparring partner, trumpeter Red Rodney, has only just celebrated his 30th birthday but has already established a reputation as one of the major saxophonists in jazz. He performs tonight with his own quartet, supported by pianist Kevin Hayes , bassist Scott Colley and Brian Blade on drums. Presented by Jez Nelson.
