Situated on the south bank of the Thames, Vauxhall pleasure gardens were a place of recreation for
Londoners for over two centuries, and music always played a large part in the entertainment on offer there.
Such was the popularity of Handel that thousands of people flocked to hear him rehearse his music for the Royal Fireworks, causing what was probably London's first serious traffic jam. Music includes:
