Tonight at the Royal Albert Hall, colour and verve in a new work by Magnus Lindberg written for the first Sibelius Conductors Competition. Alongside it, Beethoven's grandest concerto, pitting the soloist against the full might of the orchestra, and Stravinsky's primeval ballet, which has made its mark on the whole course of 20th-century music.
